New York Giants select Malik Nabers in first round of 2024 NFL Draft
The New York Giants have selected wide receiver Malik Nabers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the No. 6 overall pick. Nabers spent three seasons at LSU.
Nabers is a rare talent. He caught a combined 189 passes over three seasons at LSU, totaling 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns. His 3,003 career receiving yards are the most in LSU history; a prestigious honor for such a storied program.
Nabers produced the bulk of his jaw-dropping numbers this past season when he notched career-bests of 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 TDs. Further, the former four-star prospect boasted 17.6 yards per catch.
Fueled by Nabers’ outstanding production, LSU boasted the No. 1 nation in the offense last season. The Tigers averaged 543.5 yards and 45.5 points per game, leading the country in both categories.
For Nabers’ efforts in the 2023 campaign, Nabers was named a unanimous All-American, First-Team All-SEC member from the AP and SEC Coaches and a finalist 2023 Biletnikoff Award, missing out on the trophy by a single vote to Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr.
Malik Nabers played high school football at Southside (LA), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 199 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Malik Nabers
It’s no surprise NFL scouts are drooling over Nabers’ potential. Ahead of the draft, NFL analyst Lance Zierlein raved about Nabers’ upside.
“Nabers is the next big thing coming out of LSU’s receiver room, with the pure explosiveness and talent to be mentioned in the same breath as former LSU stars starring in the league today,” Zierlein wrote. “Despite a lack of polish and precision as a route-runner, Nabers’ gliding movements and speed alterations seem to disguise the top-end speed and separation potential that await opposing coverages.
“He’s a bouncy leaper with the athletic ability to make the impossible catches possible. He tucks away accurate throws and displays the toughness and play strength to fight for tight-window victories over the middle.
“Nabers will need to address his tendency to track and play deep throws with finesse, or his early advantages will turn into 50/50 battles. He can play all three receiver spots and has the profile to become a productive, high-volume target over all three levels as a potential WR1.”
