New York Jets fans break out 'sell the team' chants at MetLife during TNF
It’s been a disastrous season for the New York Jets. And they mortgaged their entire franchise on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately for their fans, their team was once again making mind-blowingly bad mistakes on Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans. And as you might imagine, Jets fans did not hesitate to let their players know about it.
Chants of “Sell the team!” broke out in MetLife Stadium near the end of the first half.
The Jets had less than 40 passing yards at halftime. It’s hard to blame their fan base for the horrible football they’ve been subjected to. Especially with the amount of talent they have on the roster.
New York finally got on the scoreboard with a one-handed 21-yard touchdown catch from Garrett Wilson. They tied it up 7-7 with 9:03 remaining in the third quarter.
Wilson continued to dominate, hauling in one of the best catches of the 2024 season in the fourth quarter. Aaron Rodgers dropped back to the 35-yard line, where he connected with Wilson in the back of the end zone. The former Ohio State star was miraculously able to get his shin down in the back of the end zone, completing one of the best grabs of the year. It put the Jets up 14-10 in the fourth quarter.

It didn’t take long for the Texans to respond, as quarterback CJ Stroud rolled out to his left, and completed a 50-yard pass to receiver Tank Dell. It was one of the best throws of the game for Stroud. And while most of the game was disappointing on Thursday Night Football, both teams’ offenses really started to amp things up in the fourth quarter.
The Jets came away with a much-needed win, 21-13 on Thursday Night Football, with Davante Adams hauling in a touchdown pass, as well as Garrett Wilson hauling in two. New York now sits at 3-6 overall on the 2024 campaign. We’ll see if they can continue to dig themselves out of the rather deep hole they’ve put themselves in.
