Just two months after suffering from a torn Achilles on the very first drive of his Week 1 debut, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers continues to defy the odds and progress at an impressive pace in his recovery.

Rodgers was spotted on the field before the Jets’ matchup with the New York Giants taking light drop-backs and throwing passes on Sunday, showing off some impressive steps in his rehab process after being victim to a catastrophic injury on that same field on September 11.

Rodgers recently spoke about the moment he had on the field this weekend during warmups and the miraculous strides he’s taking in his recovery on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday.

“I mean that felt great honestly,” Rodgers said. “I got my super dad shoes on, they’re the rockers, you can tell they have basically a little half-circle on the bottom that allows me to get from my heel, to my mid-foot, to my toe pretty easily.”

Even in his first sideline appearance of the season following his injury, when he was still on crutches, Rodgers threw a pass before the game that caught the eye of viewers. But less than one month later he’s now making throws that are a lot more reminiscent of what you’d see from him on Sundays, as the four-time league MVP continued to detail his progress.

“Last week was a tough week of rehab, but we kind of adjusted some things with the shoes and with my insoles. And later in the week I really started to progress kind of back on to what I was doing three days before that and that was honestly the goal,” Rodgers said. “To just kind of keep on getting better, be able to do a little more. I’ve been doing more in my rehab and feeling like I can kind of get into a little abbreviated left-right, left-right drop and it just felt normal.”

Rodgers surely looked closer to his normal self than many imagined at this point of his rehab, as he looks to continue progressing physically and staying positive and engaged with the team mentally as well.

“Just to get out there and throw, mess around with Timmy a little bit and play catch and feel like I was a part of it. That’s what it’s all about, that’s why I’ve been flying back here to see the guys, encourage them, be on the headset. But yeah, for me, that’s just fun to be able to feel like kind of a part of it and not too distant from the squad,” Rodgers concluded.
