NFL analysts break down Shedeur Sanders' chance to succeed in NFL, fit with Las Vegas Raiders
Shedeur Sanders has a great chance to succeed in the NFL and it might just be with the Las Vegas Raiders.
As ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky and Rex Ryan pointed out, Sanders to Vegas might be a perfect fit. As it stands right now, the Raiders would have the No. 1 overall pick.
While it might be very enticing to draft Travis Hunter, Sanders’ teammate, Las Vegas needs a quarterback.
“That feels like the worst kept secret in sports right now is that Shedeur Sanders wants to go to the Raiders, and the Raiders should want Shedeur Sanders,” Orlovsky said on Get Up. “I don’t believe the Raiders matter until they get a quarterback. You’re in a division with Patrick Mahomes, in a division with Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert. You’re now in a division with Sean Payton and Bo Nix. You don’t have a quarterback, and so you are more than likely going to have the first pick of the draft, you have to go get a quarterback.
“Shedeur Sanders is Geno Smith with the Seattle Seahawks. Shedeur Sanders is Tua, maybe not as touch-oriented as a passer. He’s a very, very good football player. Physically, not gonna wow you, but I think he’s got a chance to be a really high-end starter.”

This season, Sanders threw for 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 74.2% completion percentage. In two years at Colorado, Sanders has 7,156 yards, 62 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 71.8% completion percentage.
“I think people assume that he can run like Deion. That’s not the case,” Ryan said. “The guy’s a skillful passer, and I saw improvements this year out of him that were by leaps and bounds. Look, guys, we know that Sanders has a connection with Tom Brady and company. It makes perfect sense. If you’re a Raider fan, you’re sitting back. Whatever we do, do not win another game. We don’t need to trade our whole team to get this pick. We’ve earned this pick. So let’s go ahead and stay there.”
He’ll get one more opportunity to shine: Colorado’s bowl game against BYU.
“Yeah, we’re playing for a purpose at the end of the day,” Sanders said on 2Legendary. “It’s for those teammates that didn’t have the seasons that they want to have, and they still got one more opportunity. So we all got to show up and show out. You know, this is my last time playing with this type of receiving core, which is amazing. You got different speeds, different everything. Because, you know, the next level is not too much 10 personnel like that. It’s more 12 personnel.
“So I’ll say it’s the final time to take 90% of the snaps, you know, in 10 personnel, having all those different types of weapons out there. And I really want Jimmy Horn to get in there and have his game. So that’s definitely who I want to target the most.”
