New Orleans will host the Super Bowl in February for the first time since 2013. As the NFL enters Week 13, plans for the festivities have begun to be announced. One of them is the national anthem from the Ceasers Superdome.

Grammy Award-winning singer Jon Batiste will sign this year’s national anthem, FOX announced ahead of the Thanksgiving Day matchup between Dallas and New York. Batiste was born just outside of New Orleans and will perform in front of the hometown crowd. A nice touch from the league in the year’s biggest sporting event.

“Jon Batiste here on the block,” he began in an announcement video. “Reminiscing about one of the biggest decisions of my life, to choose between sports and music. I was that good at both. But music, lucky for me, has brought me back for the big game. Super Bowl.”

Batiste has five Grammys to his name, all occurring during the 64th year of the award. Six more nominations but without winning anything. Even so, it was a historic haul for Batiste as he won Album of the Year for We Are.

Performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl is another great honor for Batiste to check off his bucket list.

NFL teams fighting for spot in Super Bowl LIX

As the calendar turns in December, the race for the playoffs will begin to heat up. Plenty of teams still feel as if they are alive to not only get in the dance but potentially hoist the Lombardi Trophy. An entertaining finish to the season is upon us.

Of course, everybody is attempting to catch up to Kansas City. The Chiefs are hoping to secure the first three-peat in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes has reached plenty of milestones throughout his career but if he can pull off another championship this season, it would top them all.
