The NFL announced the officiating crew for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. The referee is Ron Torbert, and he will be joined by Mike Morton (umpire), Max Causey (down judge), Mark Stewart (line judge), Mearl Robinson (field judge), Boris Cheek (side judge), Jonah Monroe (back judge), and Kevin Brown (replay official).

NFL Football Operations added that Mike Morton won Super Bowl XXXIV as a linebacker with the Rams and is now working his first Super Bowl as an official. Ron Torbert is working his second Super Bowl and Boris Cheek is working his fourth.

The announcement of the officiating crew means Super Bowl LIX will kick off soon. The game will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9 and will air on Fox and Tubi.

The opponents will be determined after the conference championship games conclude on Sunday evening. The defending champion Kansas City Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game, and the NFC title game will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

More details about Super Bowl LIX

In May, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes talked about leading the Chiefs’s chances to win a third consecutive Super Bowl. “Next year in New Orleans, we’re gonna do it again,” Mahomes said on the Impaulsive with Logan Paul podcast, per CBS Sports. “I’m putting it on the table. We’re gonna do it again. I’m telling you now.”

Fans are looking forward to the big game, but the halftime show will be watched by nearly everyone. In September, the NFL announced Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show. Lamar has won 17 Grammys and performed at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why,” Lamar said in a statement. “They got the right one.”

“Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky added. “Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show.”
