2023 NFL Combine: Odds to run fastest 40-yard dash
The NFL combine provides a ton of information on players wanting to take a step to the next level. There is an opportunity to improve your draft stock in a huge way throughout the week. Whether it’s on or off the field, teams will be watching every move of every player.
One of the best ways to raise eyebrows is through the 40-yard dash. This event is most likely the most entertaining for the fans back home as well. Some blazing times have been produced in the past and even when they aren’t, watching the lineman get a good sprint in provides value.
Odds have been released on who will run the quickest 40-yard dash this week. Texas A&M running back Devon Achane leads the group and is considered the favorite. Of the six NFL prospects given odds, all of them are skill position players. Not surprisingly, all but one come on the offensive end.
- Texas A&M running back Devon Achane +420
- Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt +470
- Cincinnati wide receiver Tre Tucker +470
- TCU wide receiver Derius Davis +470
- East Carolina running back Keaton Mitchell +700
- Oregon defensive back Christian Gonzales +1105
- The Field +1233
Of the group, Gonzales will be the first to run. Defensive backs are scheduled for Friday in Indianapolis, followed by wide receivers on Saturday. Running backs will close out the event on Sunday and Achane will have the chance to prove as to why he is the favorite.

Christian Gonzales projected highest pick of names mentioned
Of the names mentioned, Gonzales is projected to be the first guy off the board when teams are making selections in April. The Colorado product that transferred to Oregon for a season possesses more traits than just his speed, making him one of the top prospects in the class.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Gonzales going sixth overall to the Detroit Lions in his latest NFL mock draft. He would join an already young secondary for head coach Dan Campbell as the franchise looks to push back into consistent contention in the NFC North.
