NFL Draft 2025: Mel Kiper projects Shedeur Sanders to Giants, could see Raiders trade up
Mel Kiper revealed his NFL Mock Draft 1.0 for the 2025 edition Tuesday and had Shedeur Sanders going No. 3 overall to the New York Giants.
With Cam Ward going to the Titans with the first pick and Sanders’ Colorado teammate Travis Hunter going No. 2, logically, Sanders goes next. The Giants need a quarterback right? So, they get their guy.
Kiper explained the positioning on Tuesday’s Get Up.
“And I think when you look at number three and you’re the New York Giants, people say, hey, Brian Daboll likes mobile quarterbacks,” Kiper said. “Well, hey, in Baltimore, they had Joe Flacco and then went to Lamar Jackson. Won with them both. Why not Shedeur Sanders? He’s surgical in the way he goes about his business. He completes a high percentage of his passes.
“He’s a guy certainly super tough in that pocket, great instincts and awareness as well. To me, Shedeur Sanders, with the ability, has that magic when he throws that football, it would make sense with the New York Giants.”

So right now, without trades, Sanders is going No. 3 to the Giants, per Kiper. But once he starts projecting trades in April, perhaps a team like the Las Vegas Raiders could trade up to grab the Colorado QB.
“I’m interested to see one thing, and I almost did it. I’ll wait till April to do trades. I almost had the Raiders going up from six to two to get Shedeur Sanders ahead of the Giants,” Kiper said. “I think Tom Brady will see a little bit of himself in Shedeur. We know they have a relationship. I think Shedeur Sanders with the Raiders by moving up from six to two could be something in the cards, possibly.”
Sanders finished his time at Colorado with 7,364 yards, 64 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 71.8% completion percentage, finishing 8th in Heisman voting in 2024.
