While covering the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah revealed Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart is the No. 3 quarterback on his draft board. Moreover, Jeremiah made an unexpected comparison between Dart and Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.

“[Jaxson Dart] gave me a lot of vibes and this doesn’t make sense when I first say but hear me out, Jalen Hurts,” Jeremiah said. “Jalen Hurts had been at a couple of different schools. Jalen Hurts got better each and every year. Similar body type, in terms of real sturdy, strong guys. They’re tough without question.

“To me, when I watched Jalen Hurts in college, I thought, ‘OK, he’s not a finished product, but I can see where this can go,’ and I feel the same way with Jaxson Dart. I can see where that could be headed with the progress that he’s made.”

Dart began his collegiate career at USC but transferred to Ole Miss after his freshman season and started for the Rebels for three seasons. While Hurts also finished his collegiate career at a different school than where he started, he didn’t transfer until after his junior year.

Dart and Hurts posted similar passing statistics in their respective senior seasons. Dart completed 69.3% of his pass attempts last season for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. In comparison, Hurts completed 69.7% of his pass attempts for 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions in the 2019 season at Oklahoma.

Hurts recorded just under 400 fewer passing yards than Dart but made up for the difference in the ground game, racking up 1,298 rushing yards compared to Dart’s mere 495.

Hurts’ success in the rushing attack in college translated to the next level. He is the spearhead of the “Tush-Push,” often referred to as the most unstoppable play in the NFL.

Although Dart hasn’t proven he’s capable of similar success with his legs, he is nearly the same size as Hurts. Dart is only one inch taller and two pounds heavier than the Super Bowl LIV champion.

Jaxson Dart has been compared to other players besides Jalen Hurts. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein likened Dart’s size and style to San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy.

“Teams might see physical and play similarities between Dart and Brock Purdy but such a pathway for Dart likely requires a balanced, ball-control passing attack that allows him to manage the game instead of driving it,” Zierlein wrote.

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
