WATCH: Jelani Woods winning combine early with impressive 40-yard dash, bench press
The NFL Combine has been happening all week in Indianapolis but at 4PM on Thursday afternoon the first group of prospects began actual workouts and didn’t take long for one familar face from the ACC to make his presence known.
Virginia tight end Jelani Woods, a rare physical specimen that caught the eyes of scouts with an impressive 2021 campaign — has the internet buzzing just minutes after athletes began taking part in workouts.

One would assume this sort of production will help Woods’ NFL draft stock at least a little.
While there are impressive tight ends in this league’s class, there isn’t a prospect that stands out amongst the pack, so Woods’ early performance in front of the top NFL decision makers is exactly why the combine can help a prospect gain recognition.
“There isn’t one of those sure tight ends that teams are confident can take the field on day one and do everything the position requires in this class,” NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah said. “I don’t see a tight end coming off the board in the first round, but it could happen in the second for sure.”
