NFL executive believes Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter will be top two picks in NFL Draft
It won’t be much of a surprise if — or perhaps when — Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are first round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. But they could be much more than that.
One NFL executive, according to insider Jordan Schultz, believes the Colorado quarterback and two-way star duo could be the top two picks in the draft, respectively. It’s unclear who would be first, though Sanders as the quarterback seems to be the evident option — though few prospects of Hunter’s ability and caliber have come through the NFL draft in recent memory.
“Not only are they both going top five in the draft, but I believe they’re going 1-2, back-to-back,” that executive said to Schultz.
It would be the first time that has happened in two and a half decades, as Penn State’s Courtney Brown and LaVar Arrington were selected with the top two picks in the 2000 NFL Draft.

And while it might seem shocking on its face that a pair of teammates from the Buffaloes could be the top two selections, it does seem possible.
Sanders is likely the top quarterback in the draft, or close to it for teams that might prefer another signal caller, and is therefore a likely candidate to be a high first round pick due to the inflation of quarterback selections driven by team need. And Hunter is widely considered to be one of, if not the best player in college football, capable of playing wideout and cornerback at a Top 10 level for the positions. Hunter has stated he wishes to play both ways in the NFL and cornerbacks and receivers tend not to be selected in the Top 5 of the draft, but his truly one-off ability and physical attributes could make it easy for a team to buck the trend.
And it only takes one team falling in love with each of Sanders and Hunter, respectively, for the duo to come off the board early. Potentially before the third pick is up.
