NFL Free Agency: Drue Tranquill agrees to three-year contract with Kansas City Chiefs, per report
Drue Tranquill has agreed to a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter reported. The deal includes $13 million guaranteed.
Tranquill helped the Chiefs to a Super Bowl LVIII title this past season – his first in Kansas City after four years with the Los Angeles Chargers. He made 16 appearances, including eight starts, as he totaled 78 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a key part of the Chiefs’ defense.
Tranquill’s best season in the NFL came in 2022, though, when he had a career-high 146 and 5.0 sacks, along with his first career interception. He then signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs after the Chargers didn’t pick up his fifth-year option.
Tranquill isn’t the only big decision for the Chiefs in free agency, though. They’re still in conversations with L’Jarius Sneed, as well, after placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on him earlier this week.
The non-exclusive franchise tag allows the team to hold on to him while he maintains the ability to negotiate with other teams. His franchise tag number for the 2024 season is roughly $19.8 million.
