NFL free agency: Evan Engram signs two-year deal with Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos made an exciting acquisition in the 2025 NFL free agent market. They went out and landed former Jacksonville tight end Evan Engram, according to a Wednesday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN. The contract is a two-year deal. The Broncos have been looking for tight end help in the past few years and now they finally have it.
Engram’s career has been plagued with injuries at times, but when he’s maintained to stay healthy, he’s fulfilled his vast potential. In 2024, he had to deal with a hamstring and a torn labrum. First, he missed four games with a hamstring issue, then in mid-December, it was announced he was shutting things down for the season to have surgery on his torn labrum.
The 30-yard old Engram was set to earn $14.75 million in the final year of his contract in 2025, but none of that money was guaranteed. He will now be an unrestricted free agent, and he’ll have the freedom to sign with any team. It’ll certainly be intriguing to see what team lands him in the offseason. According to Fantasy Points Data, Engram had a separation score of .052 last season, ranking him 10th best among tight ends in the league in that stat.

During his first two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was productive. The former Ole Miss star hauled in 766 receiving yards in 2022, while also setting a new career high in 2023 with 114 catches. It’ll be exciting to watch Engram pair with Bo Nix and Sean Payton in the Mile High City.
Engram had a pretty impressive career with the Ole Miss Rebels, finishing with 162 catches for 2,320 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He was named a first team All-American in the 2016 campaign, after he brought in 65 catches for 926 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Engram also earned first team All-SEC honors in 2014 and 2016, as well as earning second team All-SEC honors in 2015.
