Report: NFL free agent Robert Quinn arrested on hit and run, assault charges
NFL defensive lineman Robert Quinn was arrested in South Carolina on Friday, according to TMZ Sports. The Dorchester County law enforcement arrested the former Bears edge rusher at around 8 a.m. when he turned himself in on hit and run, as well as assault, charges.
Quinn allegedly hit multiple cars in the Summerville, South Carolina area, then fled the scene on Tuesday night. Neighbors reported the damaged cars, resulting in Quinn receiving charges of third-degree assault and battery, hit-and-run with property damage, and four counts of leaving the scene after a traffic incident.
On Friday afternoon, the former first-round draft pick out of UNC attended a bond hearing at Summerville Municipal Court. The judge gave him a $155 personal recognizance bond.
According to WCSC, neighbors in the Carrington Chase community, off of Miles Jamison Road, reported they witnessed a driver hit four cars, a gate and a light post.
Quinn actually spoke to several of the witnesses before he drove away.
“He was very belligerent,” Lisa Ball said. “He kept saying, ‘oh, don’t worry about it, I’ll buy you new cars, I’ll buy you new car, let’s go to the dealership.’ I told him to get off my property and he proceeded to put his hands on me and slap me not once but twice.”

Robert Quinn involved in car wreck
The new incident isn’t Quinn’s first involving a vehicle. In 2012, he was in a single-car crash in Missouri. He ended up charged with Driving While Intoxicated and driving without insurance by the Florissant Police Department. He later pled guilty to Failure to Exercise a High Degree of Care and paid a $277 fine.
Drafted No. 14 overall in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Quinn started his NFL career with the St. Louis Rams. He played seven years with the Rams before joining the Dolphins in 2018, then the Cowboys in 2019.
Having started his third season with the Bears last season, Quinn ended the 2022 season with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles sent a fourth-round pick to Chicago in exchange for Quinn ahead of their playoff run. He ended up posting two tackles in three postseason games played for Philadelphia after the trade. Prior to the move, he had eight tackles with one sack in seven games for Chicago.
For his career, the defensive lineman has 102 sacks, which puts him in 36th for all-time career sacks.
