Although he’s been putting up strong numbers and has the Green Bay Packers sitting at 9-3 on the season, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been playing under some pain over the past couple weeks as he’s been dealing with a fractured toe.

After completing 28-of-45 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ 36-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Rodgers and his team now enter a bye week – giving the quarterback a week off from gameplay and a perfect time to repair his injured toe.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is likely to have surgery on his toe this week but will be able to keep playing during the healing process.

“Well, the whole goal for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers was just to get to the bye,” Rapoport said. “Get through these last couple games – didn’t practice, did the mental reps, went out there and played … and that’s where they are now. Rodgers is now going to have some more tests today, and he has mentioned a couple of times the possibility of surgery. Usually at this point when you mention the possibility of surgery, it sounds more like the likelihood of surgery.

“If Aaron Rodgers’ tests go well today and he decides to have surgery, the plan is, of course, as he mentioned: fix that little baby toe that is broken, not miss any time, heal up in the bye week, get back for that Sunday night game against the Bears and be fine. That is the goal for this bye.”

Rodgers has put together a solid season leading Green Bay, as he’s thrown for 2,878 yards and 23 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. He and the Packers will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 8:20 p.m. ET at Lambeau Field – and Rodgers is projected to be the starter for that matchup.

Aaron Rodgers puts broken toe on social media

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers demonstrated his toe injury by pulling his foot up to the camera during his media availability with reporters last week. He later changed the featured image on his social media page to an image of the awkward moment.

Whether trolling the media members who he showed his toes to, or his 4.5 million followers on Twitter, it is clear the longtime Packers star is having fun again – even while dealing with the toe injury.
