NFL insider makes argument for Davante Adams to join Dallas Cowboys

With the New York Jets officially set to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the expectation is that receiver Davante Adams will be next to go. And if the Jets trade or release Adams, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano believes the Dallas Cowboys should come calling.
“I like him for the Dallas Cowboys along with CeeDee Lamb,” Graziano said on Friday’s Get Up. “They definitely need a No. 2 wide receiver. He’s more like a 1A but a little bit later on in his career. He’s at the point where he’s not gonna be able to do all the things he used to be able to do, but still, he can contribute in a lot of ways. You saw him have some big games down the stretch for the Jets. Give Dak Prescott another target.”
The Cowboys, coming off a disappointing 7-10 season, could certainly use a capable wideout to pair alongside Lamb, who put together his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign in 2024. Jalen Tolbert was Dallas’ second-leading receiver this past season, recording 610 yards on 49 catches.
Adams, 32, would give the Cowboys one of the more star-studded wideout duos in the NFL. Adams, after spending the first eight years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, played for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and ’23, before being traded to the Jets in the middle of this season.
The midseason trade reunited him with Rodgers, his quarterback throughout the duration of his time in Green Bay. Together, they hoped to snap New York’s 13-year streak with no playoffs. That’s now 14, as the Jets stumbled their way to a 5-12 record.
If anything, Adams, the six-time Pro Bowler, proved he still has some high-level ball left in him. In 11 games with the Jets, he hauled in 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. But with a $38.25 million cap hit, New York will likely let him go elsewhere. None of his $35.6 million salary is guaranteed and the Jets would save $29.8 million in cap space while taking on an $8.3 million dead cap penalty.

Micah Parsons wants Cowboys to ‘be aggressive’ this offseason; Does Davante Adams make sense?
To linebacker Micah Parsons, the franchise needs to look to make a splash on the open market. That was part of his “call to action” to the front office, citing the need to be “aggressive.” Parsons, speaking after a Make-A-Wish foundation event in Grapevine, previewed the Cowboys’ offseason. He made it clear he wants the team to be in on the big names instead of watching other teams aim high.
“The talent is there. We’ve just got to be aggressive the same way [other teams] did,” Parsons said, via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris. “I don’t want to sit back and watch other [teams] build and build and us stay the same. Definitely some call to action.
“I want to see us become aggressive and get some players that will come in and make an impact. I want to see us bring back our own players. That’s just as important. Let’s see what we can do there.”
Acquiring/signing Adams would be a splash move. Whether the Cowboys will be interested when the 2025 league year and free agency signing period begins March 12 is another question.
