Mike Vrabel is a proven NFL head coach who is expected to get plenty of interest from teams with openings this offseason.

NFL reporters Peter Schrager and Tom Pelissero spoke Tuesday on Good Morning Football about potential landing spots for Vrabel and why teams may or may not be interested in him.

Schrager spoke first, revealing four teams in particular that he believes could go after Mike Vrabel. Teams are now able to interview Vrabel for their head coaching jobs after he finished off his consulting contract with the Browns this week.

“I think he’ll have interest from not only Chicago, I think New Orleans will have interest. I think the Jets will have interest,” Schrager said. “But a team that I would keep an eye on, and an owner that I would keep an eye on, having not made a decision on their current head coach, who has won two straight games — but Las Vegas makes a lot of sense if they were to move on from Antonio Pierce.”

As Schrager pointed out, Vrabel has some connections to the Raiders organization.

“Of course Tom Brady is the new minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders,” Schrager said. “Vrabel has a very good relationship with Brady. And Vrabel is a possibility for that gig as they start a new chapter, if they opt to move on from Antonio Pierce.”

Mike Vrabel won three Super Bowls as a player alongside Tom Brady in New England.

Despite an impressive 54-45 coaching record, and the fact that he made the playoffs three times in six seasons, Vrabel was still fired as the Titans head coach following the 2023 season.

Pelissero explained why some teams may be reluctant to hire him, even with an impressive resume.

“Every team that has a vacancy, or is thinking they might have a vacancy, is doing homework on Mike Vrabel. Because the big question when you look at his track record – he’s been the Coach of the Year in the NFL. He went to the playoffs three times in six seasons with Tennessee. It’s ‘why did the Titans end up moving on from him? Why was he out last year and didn’t draw more interest?’” Pelissero said.

“There’s a lot of different dynamics there. Obviously Mike Vrabel has a very strong personality in the building. He’s also one of the smartest guys, knows the rulebook better than anyone, is able to find inefficiencies that he might be able to exploit. You just have to know, and there has to be that synergy between ownership, the front office, and the head coach. That obviously became an issue in Tennessee.”
