NFL insider explains Quay Walker fit for the Packers amid training camp battle
Quay Walker was a part of an impressive 2022 NFL Draft class for Georgia. Now, the Green Bay Packers linebacker is trying to make a name for himself in training camp.
The Packers selected Walker No. 22 overall — one of five players from the Bulldogs’ vaunted 2021 defense taken in the first round. It sounds like he’s making an impression in training camp as Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer discussed his fit in the scheme.
“Quay Walker gives the Packers a second versatile three-down LB next to De’Vondre Campbell,” Breer tweeted. “Should allow for more third-down creativity in moving those guys around.”
Last year, as he helped Georgia to its first national title in 40 years, Walker totaled 65 tackles and 1.5 sacks before the Packers took him in the draft. In the national championship game against Alabama, he had eight tackles — including a tackle for loss — as Georgia defeated the Crimson Tide 33-18.
NFL insider Albert Breer gives bold take on Rashan Gary, Eric Stokes
The Green Bay Packers have one of the most complete defenses in the NFL, at least one paper, heading into the 2022 season. The starting lineup could have up to seven first-round picks in it and according to defensive back Jaire Alexander, the group is “nasty, just nasty.”

Breer also pointed out former Michigan edge rusher Rashan Gary and former Georgia defensive back Eric Stokes as difference makers for the squad this season.
“(Eyes) on Rashan Gary,” Breer tweeted. “Was dominant last year, and looks ready to take another step—and part of it is that he’s been way more vocal. Was visible in practice today.”
“Eric Stokes = potential breakout CB,” Breer added. “Should get shots at the (football) with Jaire Alexander back.”
Stokes had 43 solo tackles and an interception last season. With Alexander on the other side, teams will likely end up throwing the ball his way more often in 2022.
