NFL insider questions Shedeur Sanders' stock entering draft week

Where Shedeur Sanders will be heading has been a hot topic of debate in the weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. He could be as high as a top-five pick, while others believe he may be sitting in the green room for a while.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler attempted to find the pulse on the matter, revealing the latest on where Sanders may get drafted later this week. His explanation, however, may leave fans with more questions than answers.
“The Saints have done a lot of homework on quarterbacks at No. 9 overall. I don’t get the sense, at least right now, that Sanders would be the pick there,” Fowler said. “The Pittsburgh Steelers have some cursory interest, but they don’t have a second-round pick. So, do they go quarterback at 21 overall? Do they maybe go defense? So two questions loom here, leading into Thursday.
“Is there a surprise team for Shedeur Sanders? And if not, will the Browns or the New York Giants try to move back into the first round, in the middle or the late area, and try to get Sanders? Maybe if it’s the Browns, you could pair Travis Hunter with Sanders to keep the band back together. I do know the Browns have some love for Sanders.”
Fowler explained Sanders as having this “computer mind,” which aids in his ability to process defenses at the line of scrimmage. Is that enough for the Browns to pull the trigger on a rookie quarterback? Fowler isn’t sure at this point.

Notably, there have been no first-round trades to this point in the pre-draft process. Fowler has a sense that may change if Sanders begins to slide down the first round.
Whichever team does land Sanders’ services, they’ll be drafting a quarterback coming off the best season of his college career. He threw for 4,134 yards on an impressive 74% completion percentage to go along with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
All told, he threw for 72 touchdown passes during his time playing for his father, Deion Sanders, at Colorado. In his four years at the collegiate level, Sanders passed for 14,318 yards and 134 touchdowns. His 10 interceptions in 2024 were a career-high, so he isn’t known for turning the ball over through the air.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set to be held from Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Whether Sanders hears his name on day one or day two, however, remains to be seen.
