NFL insider reveals good news about Titans star Derrick Henry

Derrick Henry was on his way to the MVP conversation before a foot injury derailed his season. Many believed it was the end of his season, writing off the former Alabama star for the remainder of 2021.
However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed the rest of the league should be on notice. According to Rapoport, Henry is on track to return — and he could be back before the end of the regular season.
“Sources say that rehab for the All-Pro rushing champion is going so well that Henry is in line to return for the playoffs if Tennessee makes it in. Or potentially Week 18 if the Titans face a win-and-in situation,” wrote Rapoport. “The team was optimistic he would play again following surgery to repair the fifth metatarsal on Nov. 2, and reports on his progress have bolstered that good feeling.”
After starting 8-2, the Titans fell to the lowly Houston Texans before getting blown out by the New England Patriots. After a well-timed bye week, Tennessee is getting ready for the stretch run. With the return of Henry looming, the Titans just have to stay afloat until their star gets back on the field.
Initially, Henry was reported to be out six to 10 weeks. Evidently, Henry is a different type of athlete, and an early return is in the cards for one of the league’s top offensive weapons.
If Henry can return to form prior to the end of the season, the Titans become an entirely different team. Tennessee’s attempts to replace Henry have been futile, because you simply cannot replace the greatness he provides.

Update on Julio Jones, Titans return
Furthermore, Derrick Henry won’t be back to help the Titans out on Sunday against the Jaguars. However, one injured offensive star will be — wide receiver Julio Jones is coming back for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.
“The Titans plan to activate star WR Julio Jones off Injured Reserve today, source said, and he’ll play on Sunday,” tweeted Rapoport. “The hamstring has healed, and Jones is ready for the stretch run.”
Moreover, Jones hasn’t seen the field since the Titans victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 7. After trading a bevy of picks for the former Atlanta Falcons and Alabama star, the return on investment hasn’t been great for Tennessee. On the season, Jones has caught just 21 passes — accumulating 336 yards and zero touchdowns.
In a wide open AFC, the Titans have a shot for a monumental, history-making season. However, they’ll need their offensive weapons to show up for their stretch run. As he returns to the lineup, perhaps Julio Jones can find his footing — and the Tennessee Titans can find their groove.
