The NFL didn’t take kindly to DeShon Elliott’s activity last Sunday. Same for Bears running back D’Onta Foreman. Both players received hefty fines Saturday.

The NFL hit Elliott, a Dolphins defensive back, with two fines. Both were for unneccesary roughness. The big one was $43,709. The second was a more checking account friendly $9,833. Elliott’s bill = $53,542. Elliott won the ignominious honor of biggest (collective) fine of the week.

Then there’s Foreman. The league also checked him for $43,709 for unnecessary roughness. Maybe it’s a Longhorn thing because they were teammates at Texas.

At first glance, Foreman’s play looked innocuous. However, the NFL found that he lowered his head before he made contact with a Chargers defender.

The hits dished out by Elliott also didn’t seem that severe. Officials didn’t throw a flag on either of them. However, Patriots receiver DeVante Parker suffered a concussion on one of the hits (it received a smaller fine). His $43,000 smash was on running back Rhamondre Stevenson.

Each Saturday, the NFL releases the names, the amount of each fine and the quarter/time each infraction occurred. All money goes to charity.
