Aaron Rodgers left Monday Night Football with an ankle injury during the game’s opening minutes and has been ruled out for the remainer of the game.

Former NFL offensive lineman and medical expert Dr. Mark Adickes took to social media to reveal his initial synopsis of the New York Jets’ star’s injury.

“Best case scenario is an ankle sprain, but even if it’s that I think it’s going to be one that keeps him out for a few weeks,” Dr. Adickes said. “Look, the mechanism was frighteningly similar to what we saw with JK Dobbins. With him being 39, and Achilles would be a horrible injury for him to have.

“The other thing, he was up on his toes, so a Lisfranc foot injury is also a possibility. Obviously, the Achilles and Lisfranc — that could end his season, so hopefully this is just an ankle sprain but worrisome for something more serious.”

Another medical expert, Dr. David Chao, said that he expects Rodgers’ X-rays to come back negative — which they did — but he also isn’t saying Rodgers isn’t in the clear just yet regarding this being a season-ending injury. He added that the boot Rodgers was seen wearing after the injury doesn’t ease his fears for the worst case scenario for the former NFL MVP.

The injury occurred after Buffalo Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers to the ground on what seemed like a routine tackle. Rodgers didn’t get popped by a means, but it was the turf that Rodgers hurt himself on.

Zach Wilson, the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and the Jets’ starting QB for the past two seasons, was brought in afterward and finished the first half completing 5-of-8 passes for 41 yards and an interception.

Aside from Breece Hall‘s 109 rushing yards on two carries — including an 83-yard sprint that almost saw the former Iowa State star take it from end zone to end zone — the Jets have little to love from their offensive unit without their centerpiece.

Rodgers is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday to reveal the extent of the injury, but until then, the Jets trail the Bills 13-3 at halftime and need a big boost from Wilson, Hall, Dalvin Cook and the rest of the offensive attack under offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
