The NFL has named Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson as one of the league’s Global Flag Football Ambassadors. Jefferson, who participated in the 2023 Pro Bowl’s new flag football format in January, will now represent the NFL on the international flag football stage in the hopes of supporting the global efforts of the NFL and International Federation of American Football (IFAF) to increase the participation of flag football in youth around the world.

“Flag Football is an awesome sport and a great way for kids to learn some of the fundamentals of football,” Jefferson said, via NFL.com. “I was able to play in the first Pro Bowl Games with Flag Football as a sport, and it was an incredible experience for me. I love the pace and the concepts of Flag, that is why I am so excited about becoming a Global Flag Football Ambassador.

“It is truly a sport for all, and I can’t wait to work with the NFL to help continue the growth of this great game.”

The third-year wideout is a no-brainer for the role of flag football ambassador. He’s dynamic enough to show off his skills on the gridiron or the flag football field and plays a flashy, exciting style that children looking to get into football can try and model their game after.

On the field, Jefferson set career highs in 2022 with the Vikings. He caught 128 passes for 1,809 yards, eight touchdowns, 14.1 yards per catch and one rushing touchdown. In his three-year career, Jefferson has 324 catches, 4,825 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14.9 yards per catch. He’s just under averaging 100 yards receiving per game — if he maintains his 96.5 average throughout the remainder of his career, he’ll set an NFL record.

He was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year for the 2022-2023 season for his efforts and was named to his third pro bowl roster in as many years — one for each season he’s been in his league.

Now, Jefferson is expected a massive payday that should make him one, if not the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL. Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill ranks No. 1 on that list with $30 million per season. Additionally, Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald is the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL averaging $31.6 million, Hill ranks right behind him.

Knowing that, it’s only a matter of when — not if — Jefferson gets his payday.
