As the Aaron Rodgers saga remains ongoing, fans of multiple franchises are trying to get the latest. Unfortunately, there isn’t much hard data to suggest what his next move will be.

Rodgers has kept things close to the vest this offseason as he looks for a potential home for the 2025 season. And at least one team appears to be out of the mix now, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

“I would say the Vikings are as out as they could be right now,” Rapoport said Monday on The Pat McAfee Show. “Like, if Aaron is not signed by like August and something terrible happens to either the Vikings or someone else, he would be the top guy available by a lot. I think Ryan Tannehill was in this situation last year. Tannehill ended up not signing and that’s where it stays.”

Aaron Rodgers can command that kind of patience. The four-time league MVP can still play, even at 41 years old.

But when will he make a decision? At a certain point, waiting it out through offseason workouts and OTAs can be detrimental to the team’s ambitions going forward.

“I would be very surprised if Rodgers waited till after the draft,” Rapoport said. “I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t the Steelers if he plays. But I have not 100% been able to nail down is is he absolutely definitely playing. And I think that’s why this conversation is sort of still ongoing.”

Yes, there remains a chance that Aaron Rodgers ultimately decides to hang up the cleats. It’s not what most are expecting, but it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Rapoport explained how that slim chance makes getting a read on the Aaron Rodgers situation so difficult. He noted:

“Plus, as you guys know, unless I am inside, and Kyle Brandt actually asked me a great question on Good Morning Football, ‘How do you report on Aaron Rodgers because his circle is so tight?'” Rapoport relayed. “You do it by sticking to what you absolutely know. So what I think about Rodgers and what he’s doing isn’t really as meaningful as what I know.

“And what I know is that he had a good visit to the Steelers. And what I know is he hasn’t signed yet. That’s basically it. And so that’s kind of why I said what I said. I still believe that it’s probably headed in that direction, which is what Art Rooney said. Until Rodgers comes out and says it in whatever form, in whatever show or format or broadcast…”

The implication was clear. Until Aaron Rodgers does that, expect more questions about his future.
