NFL owners officially vote to award 2027 Super Bowl to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles
The 32 NFL owners have unanimously approved and awarded Super Bowl LXI in February 2027 to the city of Los Angeles, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, will play host to the game.
“We are very excited to bring the Super Bowl back to Los Angeles for the second time in five years,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “The city did an outstanding job hosting Super Bowl 56 in the incredible SoFi Stadium and we believe that Super Bowl 61 will be even more memorable. The Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Host Committee and many other outstanding partners will help create an unforgettable week of events culminating in Super Bowl Sunday in 2027 that will celebrate the region as an epicenter of sports, entertainment and culture.”
SoFi Stadium adds second Super Bowl to future slate
SoFi Stadium, which opened in September 2020, hosted Super Bowl LVI two years ago between the Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. In its brief history, the stadium has hosted other marquee events such as the College Football Playoff National Championship, WrestleMania 39 and the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. Future events such as multiple matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Summer Olympics will take place at SoFi Stadium as well.
