This weekend, NFL quarterbacks CJ Stroud and Justin Fields held a camp with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery in Morocco. The two former teammates at Ohio State got together in North Africa in Skhirat, Morocco amid their preseason break leading up to training camp. The quarterbacks and Coach Avery worked with players as young as 11 to hone their skills during a three-hour session with FlexWork Football Camp.

For Stroud, this is his second overseas camp this offseason. He teamed up with Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons earlier this spring for a camp in China. The duo also spent time in Japan where they threw out the first pitch at a baseball game and practiced sumo wrestling.

Stroud is entering his second year in the league this season with the Houston Texans. Meanwhile, Justin Fields is about to engage in an all-out battle for the starting job with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers acquired the former Chicago Bears first-rounder in a trade. Pittsburgh sent a 2025 sixth-round pick to Chicago, which could convert to a fourth-round selection if Fields plays 51% of the offensive snaps this season.

After acquiring Fields, the Steelers also added former Seahawks and Broncos starter Russell Wilson. Though Wilson is in pole position for the job heading into training camp, a lot could happen in the months of July and August.

Stroud ready for Year 2 with Texans

CJ Stroud left fans enamored during his debut campaign. Now, the Houston Texans’ star quarterback is ready to kick it up a notch in his second year in the league.

“Just keep growing,” Stroud said of his Year 2 goals. “The name of the game is execution. The times where we executed at a high level, were the times we won those games. So that’s just the goal. Just execute and be able to be on the same page.

“Build chemistry right now, so when the ball rolls, we’re ready to fly around at a high level. I mean, that’s the goal and there’s goals on top of that. But, that’s the foundation right now.”

In his rookie season, Stroud exploded for 4,108 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 63.9% of his passes. Further, Stroud tallied 167 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Stroud’s 4,557 total passing yards last year, including the postseason, were the second-most in NFL history by a rookie, trailing only Andrew Luck (4,662) in 2012. He also began his career with 192 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, the most ever by a player to begin a career.

The Texans begin training camp with check-in for veterans on July 17. Chicago will start a week later, on July 24.
