NFL RedZone experiences technical difficulties during 'witching hour'
NFL RedZone is one of the best football shows on the planet, airing several different games across the country at the same time, every Sunday of the NFL season. Scott Hanson somehow operates the show with a flawless level of efficiency and smoothness even though he’s operating in total chaos. But even NFL RedZone has their technical difficulties. We saw a small glimpse of that on Sunday, shortly after the beginning of the ‘witching hour’, when the broadcast feed completely cut out for three minutes.
It caused fans to miss the final minutes of the Bears and Colts game, which I’m sure made plenty of people upset. The Bears and Colts game was one of the few games in that window that was actually close. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams put up much better numbers, completing 33 of 52 passes for 363 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns. But he also threw two interceptions and had a critical fumble which ended up losing the Bears the game. The Colts pulled out the 21-16 victory.
Bears rookie wideout Rome Odunze had a big game, hauling in six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Colts second year quarterback Anthony Richardson struggled mightily, only completing 10 of 20 passes for 167 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
It’s looking more and more like he’ll be benched. As Bryce Young as shown us, opportunity windows for a starting quarterback in the NFL aren’t for very long. Indianapolis does have Joe Flacco has their backup quarterback. He won AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year last year.

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to squeak by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Saints have been one of the surprise teams of the NFL early on in the 2024 campaign. But Philly running back Saquon Barkley was simply too much to handle. He finished with 147 yards and two touchdowns. Barkley is off to one of the best starts of his career and he’s looking like he could contend to lead the league in rushing yards this season. He was in the Top 5 coming into Sunday. With that type of performance, that should push him up the ranks.
