The NFL has revealed the location of the 2024 NFL Draft. On Monday, the City of Detroit was gifted the honor of being chosen to host the gigantic event.

The NFL, Detroit Lions and various media outlets announced the news on Monday. To mark the occasion, the Lions put together a hype video featuring scenic views of the city, and the words of Lions legend Barry Sanders.

“Believe me now? The pick is Detroit,” exclaimed Sanders, revealing the draft is coming to Detroit.

Moreover, hosting the NFL Draft has become a huge honor for cities harboring NFL franchises. After decades where the event was held at New York City, the NFL decided to branch out. Since, the draft has been held in Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Nashville and Cleveland. In-between, it was held in Roger Goodell’s basement — but that’s one the world would like to put behind us.

This year, the 2022 NFL Draft is being held in Las Vegas. After, Kansas City was chosen to host the 2023 NFL Draft. Finally, 2024 will now be Detroit’s year — chosen to host the 2024 Draft on Monday.

HBO tabs Detroit Lions for Hard Knocks

Moreover, the big news keeps coming for Detroit. HBO has made its choice of which NFL team will be featured on this season of Hard Knocks. Only three teams were eligible to be forced to star in the docuseries — the Detroit Lions, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Lions are the team the world will be watching throughout training camp this summer.

“Hard Knocks this summer will be starring the Detroit Lions,” tweeted Schefter.

The Lions aren’t expected to compete for a Super Bowl next season. Still, there are plenty of storylines to follow regarding the NFC North franchise. The Lions have a charismatic coach in Dan Campbell entering his second season. Additionally, they have a veteran quarterback in Jared Goff who just watched his former team capture a Super Bowl. Of course, there’s also always the possibility that the team selects a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft.

“We are excited about the opportunity to showcase the City of Detroit and the amazing culture we are building at the Lions,” said Detroit Lions Team President and CEO, Rod Wood, announcing the series. “HBO Sports and NFL Films are the best of the best. We know they will be excellent partners in sharing our story with football fans around the world.”

Evidently, HBO sees potential with the Lions are their choice for Hard Knocks. If Dan Campbell’s introductory press conference was any indication, at least some great soundbites could come out of it. The Lions will debut on Hard Knocks beginning August 9.
