Just one final weekend remains in the NFL before moving on to the 2024 postseason. The full playoff picture is far from being decided, with multiple scenarios playing out on Saturday and Sunday. The NFL had some housekeeping work to clear before then though, making two tweaks to roster rules.

“The NFL sent a memo to clubs with 2024 postseason roster rules,” Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network said. “Two tweaks: Players waived this Friday or Saturday are on waivers until 4 p.m. ET on Monday. Transactions before Saturday night playoff games can be made until 4 p.m. ET on game day.”

Pelissero mentioned how if any waiver claims are made, they will not become effective until the 2024 season. Teams will be allowed to sign players who completely clear waivers and can participate in the playoffs.

Sunday Night Football from Miami will be the final regular season game of the year, where the Dolphins will face the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East crown. Plenty of teams will make transcations in order to prepare for the upcoming offseason.

Now, there will just be some minor changes to the rules they will have to deal with.

More on the NFL playoffs

Plenty of chaos is going to unfold over the weekend to completely fill out the playoff bracket. Multiple division titles will be won on Sunday, while teams are still fighting for Wild Card spots. As usual, the NFL has set up the schedule to provide the most entertaining finishes in Week 18.

A few things are already known, though. Both the AFC and NFC have their No. 1 seed locked up, with the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers earning a bye. They will have the option to rest some starters this week before getting another one off and then playing in their respective Divisional rounds.

Nine teams have clinched a spot in the postseason, meaning five are still available. Three reside in the AFC, while the NFC has the other two. Just half of the division titles have been won as well. Seeding implications will be the most interesting storyline of the final weekend.

Once matchups are finalized, the NFL will release the official Wild Card Weekend schedule. However, we already know two games will take place on Saturday, Jan. 13. Three more will occuring the following day before closing out the — hopefully entertaining — weekend on Monday night.
