NFL slaps Steelers RB Jaylen Warren with big fine for hit during Browns game
The NFL has hit Steelers running back Jaylen Warren with a large fine for lowering his helmet during Monday’s win over the Browns. It’s not often you see these kinds of decisions handed down to running backs.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the league fined Warren $48,333 for an illegal use of the helmet during the game. The play did not draw a flag during Monday Night Football. Below is the clip.
Typically, that type of fines comes against defensive players for trying to make a tackle. In this instance, though, the NFL obviously thought Warren stepped over the line by lowering his head.
David Canter, Warren’s agent, responded on X (formerly Twitter) by saying, “We are obviously appealing.”
Warren helped Pittsburgh secure a 26-22 victory over Cleveland on Monday. He carried the ball six times for 20 yards and also caught four passes for 66 yards. With the win, the Steelers improved to 1-1 on the season.
Through two games this season, Warren has totaled 78 receiving yards and 26 rushing yards. The Steelers head to Las Vegas to play the Raiders on Sunday Night Football this weekend.
NFL rescinds fine on Steelers LB Kwon Alexander from preseason
Kwon Alexander won’t see a massive hit to his bank account, after all. The NFL has decided to rescind a fine for the Steelers’ linebacker for a preseason hit on Tampa Bay running back Chase Edmonds.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the NFL rescinded the fine on Friday. It was a fairly hefty amount, totaling $43,709.
Alexander was initially fined for lowering his helmet while making a hit on Edmonds. In real time, it doesn’t appear that there’s much to it. But the NFL places heavy emphasis on player safety, especially when it comes to helmet-to-helmet contact.
Below is video of the preseason hit:
Alexander is a nine-year NFL veteran but is in his first season with the Steelers. He spent last season with the New York Jets and has had stops with the Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.
Through two games this season, Alexander has racked up 17 total tackles, including 15 solo stops. In last week’s victory over the Cleveland Browns, the linebacker tallied nine tackles with one in the backfield.
Could that be a good omen for Warren. If the league overturned the decision to fine Alexander, perhaps Warren could receive the same luck.
