NFL great Tom Brady will urge players not to gamble in a new PSA the league is sending to each of the 32 teams.

The Colorado TV station 9News first reported the detail. In the video, Brady first talks about his love for the game. After all, he played in the league for 22 years. Then he says that playing in the NFL is a privilege, but betting on league games hurts the integrity of the NFL and impacts your fellow teammates. He tells the players that placing the bet isn’t worth the price. And he also reminded them that one bad decision could destroy their entire career.

If the players ignore Tom Brady’s message, they should look around and see what’s happening around the league in regards to gambling. You can call it a crackdown. Days before the NFL Draft, the league suspended five players, four of them Detroit Lions. Three of the players received at least a one-year suspension. The league penalized Jameson Williams, Detroit’s first-round pick in 2022, for six games. He’s still allowed to work with his teammates during OTAs and then in training camp. The Lions waived receivers Quintez Cephus and Stanley Berryhill and safety C.J. Moore. Berryhill, like Williams, received a six-game penalty.

In addition, the league gave at least a year suspension to Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney. A year ago, the NFL handed down a year-long penalty to receiver Calvin Ridley, who now plays for the Jaguars.

News of Tom Brady video comes days after Colts player apologized for placing bets

Meanwhile, Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers probably could’ve used Tom Brady’s message. News broke last week that the NFL was investigating an unidentified Indianapolis player for placing bets on hundreds of games. Rodgers outed himself, Monday, with an apology via social media.

“Addressing the current reports, I want to take full responsibility for my actions,” Rodgers tweeted. “I know I have made mistakes and I am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation. The last thing I ever wanted to do was be a distraction to the Colts organization, my coaches, and my teammates. I’ve let people down that I care about.”

He added: “I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process. It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this.”

In the Tom Brady PSA, he finishes his intro by asking the players to do the right thing and follow the rules on gambling. The rest of the video sums up what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to placing a bet.
