The NFL seems to have high expectations for Shedeur Sanders, as the league is showing its support on social media. The top quarterback prospect is on the banner of the NFL’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. It’s not clear when the NFL made the change, but it makes sense since he will be talked about a lot during the next couple of months.

Sanders is projected to be a top-10 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. ESPN’s Jordan Reid just released his latest mock draft and has Sanders going to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall.

“With the Browns facing a lot of pressure to win next season, both internally and externally, they must figure out a long-term solution at quarterback to dig themselves out of the rubble of the failed Deshaun Watson trade,” Reid wrote. “Sanders is a picture-perfect fit as a polished pocket passer with toughness and excellent ball placement- traits of quarterbacks who have excelled in Kevin Stefanski’s scheme.”

Shedeur Sanders was a standout quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes. Last year, Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His work on the field led to him being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and finishing eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.

Why Shedeur Sanders is receiving criticism

Despite being a very talented player, Sanders is facing criticism due to his perceived attitude that he has given off during meetings with teams. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said critics are going after Shedeur Sanders because they don’t like his father, Deion Sanders.

“I’m trying to remain composed and not really be as angry as I want to be,” Stephen A. Smith said on First Take. “I’m fuming inside right now. What is he supposed to be as a quarterback entering the NFL? You can’t be insecure and still succeed. You can’t have doubts about your abilities and be successful as a quarterback in the NFL. If I know that, every single executive knows you have to have confidence. He has a resume that validates and backs up his confidence.”

Smith added, “So, I’m getting angry because a young black man, highly successful, highly accomplished, and incomparable and incredible pedigree is entering the NFL, is considered easily one of the top two quarterbacks entering the NFL Draft.”
