Nick Chubb knee injury update: Browns star expected to miss season after brutal collision vs Steelers
Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was carted to the locker room after suffering a knee injury in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday.
The injury occurred in the second quarter after Chubb took a handoff up the middle and was hit directly on his knee by Steelers defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick. The injury was so gruesome, that ABC made the decision not to show the replay. Fans at Acrisure Stadium let out a collective gasp after the replay was shown once on the video screen.
Steelers fans in attendance chanted Chubb’s name and gave him a standing ovation as he was carted off the field.
“One of the best players in the game is being carted off, and these fans in Pittsburgh — I mean, so classy,” play-by-play man Joe Buck said on the broadcast.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Browns have serious concern that Chubb’s season is over from a possible knee dislocation, potentially with multiple ligament damage. Chubb is currently undergoing testing to determine the severity of the injury.
Browns could be without Nick Chubb for rest of 2023 season
Chubb, 27, previously dislocated his left knee and tore his MCL, PCL, and LCL with cartilage damage while at Georgia in a game against Tennessee in October 2015. Chubb overcame that injury, and since entering the NFL in 2018, has been arguably the most consistent running back in the league.
After rushing for 996 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie, Chubb has amassed over 1,000 yards on the ground in four consecutive seasons. He is coming off his best season to date, rushing for a career-high 1,525 yards on 5.0 yards per carry and 12 scores. Chubb was well on his way to another stellar campaign, rushing for 106 yards on 18 carries in the 24-3 Week 1 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Prior to the injury against Pittsburgh, Chubb compiled 64 yards on 10 carries.
