Nico Collins injury update: Texans WR status revealed for MNF vs. Cowboys
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is expected to play with no minute restrictions against the Dallas Cowboys tonight, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Collins has missed the Texans’ last five games due to a hamstring injury.
Collins came off injured reserve and practiced the Friday before the Texans faced off against the Lions. However, the team ultimately decided to not play him that game, allowing him to have another week to recover before returning to the field.
Before suffering the hamstring injury, Collins was the NFL’s leading receiver, boasting 567 receiving yards. His 113.4 receiving yards per game still lead the league. The Texans felt Collins’ absence.
The team was 4-1 in games that Collins played. Alas, since Collins’ injury, the Texans have posted a 2-3 record. Houston head coach Demeco Ryans is excited to see Collins back out on the gridiron.
“Getting Nico back is always very great for all of us,” Ryans said, per ESPN. “Nico’s been one of our best players when he was healthy, so it’s great to have him back, great to have his presence and the energy that he brings and also the playmaking ability that he brings.”

Ryans isn’t the only one who’s excited.
“[I] got to go out there and take advantage of my opportunities,” Collins said. “In order to pick back up, I got to ball out when the ball touches my hands. When the ball is in the air, I have to do something with it.”
This season is Collins’ fourth in the NFL. In the 2023 campaign, the former Michigan standout made 15 appearances and 10 starts, notching a career-high 80 receptions for career-highs of 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.
On Monday, Nico Collins will look to bring similar success to the field as the Texans square off against the Cowboys at 8:15 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN and ABC.
