An early wreck during Stage 2 of the Iowa Corn 350 at the Iowa Speedway on Sunday caused tensions to flare between Noah Gragson‘s crew and John Hunter Nemechek.

Gragson’s crew was hot after his car was spun halfway around by Nemechek during the second stage. Gragson was able to control the spin and straighten out before hitting anything, but a caution flag still came out and the contact cost Gragson several positions.

The crew on the radio was not happy.

“What in the f*** is wrong with him?” Gragson crew chief Drew Blickensderfer said on the radio. “That guy is the biggest moron in racing over the past 10 years.”

Noah Gragson’s spotter, Andy Houston, said he had relayed that message to Ryan Blanchard, John Hunter Nemechek’s spotter.

Ryan Blaney takes Stage 1 win

A competitive first stage with a couple cautions ended with Ryan Blaney taking the win over Kyle Larson, who started on the pole on Sunday. The two battled back and forth throughout the first stage before Blaney got the better of Larson and held on for the final few laps.

It was the second stage win of the season for Blaney, while it prevented Larson from extending his Cup Series lead of seven stage wins any further.

Larson ran into a bit of trouble with a questionable tire in Stage 2, having to pit early. In doing so, he gave up his positioning and will have to battle his way back toward the front.

Blaney remained in the lead in the early going in Stage 2.

Noah Gragson was in P21, while John Hunter Nemechek was P24 at the time of this writing.
