Olympian track athletes Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield plan to tie the knot next year, sharing a unique love story from multiple different perspectives. The couple opened up on their engagement in a recent article on The Knot, explaining the origins of how it all began.

Bromfield was the first to reach out in 2017, sliding into Lyles’ DMs on social media. The pair started talking as friends then with him living in the United States and her in Jamaica. But three months after they began talking, Lyles revealed that he had romantic feelings toward Bromfield.

Given their profession, they saw each other a handful of times at track meets over the next few years. One particular meet that occurred in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2022, Lyles asked Bromfield to be his girlfriend.

Fast forward to now and Lyles is coming off of a gold medal finish in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as well as winning a bronze medal in the 200 meters. He and Bromfield got engaged in October following that and recently shared photos on Instagram marking the occasion.

Lyles has publicly battled asthma, ADHD and dyslexia and bonded with Bromfield over similar issues. The Jaimaican runner has dealt with her own struggles, losing her mother to cancer in 2021.

Bromfield even considered quitting running altogether at one point, but Lyles inspired her to stick with it. Thanks to the support they have shown one another, the pair have come out on the other side better than ever. As they plan to get married in the spring of next year, they’ll look forward to a lifetime more of that kind of love.
