Noah Lyles took a shot at Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill after winning the 60-meter final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on Sunday. After the race, the track star pulled out a sign that read “Tyreek could never.”

This led to a reaction from Hill. “Get a load of this guy,” Hill wrote on X with a crying laughing face emoji.

The latest move from Lyles continues a battle between himself and Hill. Following the Paris Olympics last summer, Hill said he would beat Lyles in a race. “I would beat Noah Lyles,” Hill said on Up & Adams at the time, per ESPN. “I’m not going to beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles.”

Hill was responding to the comments Lyles made after the 2023 World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary when he criticized NBA Finals winners for calling themselves “world champions.” The Olympic gold medalist said, “You know what hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘world champion’ on their head. World champion of what? The United States? Don’t get me wrong — I love the U.S., at times, but that ain’t the world. …There ain’t no flags in the NBA. We got to do more. We got to be presented to the world.”

Could Tyreek Hill beat Noah Lyles in a race?

After Lyles won the race on Sunday, he spoke to NBC Sports about the sign. “I think this [message] says it all. When you’re ready to actually put some words down and you actually ready to race, see me,” he said. “I’m right here. I ain’t going nowhere. But all I know is your football season is over, you ain’t got no excuse now.”

Lyles won two medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The 27-year-old earned gold in the 100 meters and bronze in the 200 meters. At the World Championships in Budapest, Lyles earned three gold medals.

Hill ran a 4.29 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2016. The 30-year-old ran track at Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia, winning the state title in the 100 meters and 200 meters in 2012. For his production in high school during the 2012 season. Hill was selected to the USA Today All-American team.
