North Carolina win total released for Bill Belichick debut season with Tar Heels
There is plenty of excitement around the North Carolina football program after Bill Belichick was hired to lead the Tar Heels on Wednesday. Not only is there excitement, but there are also increased expectations with one of the greatest coaches of all time now in charge at UNC.
The win total has been released for Bill Belichicks inaugural season at North Carolina. It has been set at 7.5 wins by FanDuel. As of Saturday morning, taking over 7.5 wins pays +102, while under 7.5 is -136.
The North Carolina win total being set at 7.5 means that Vegas expects Bill Belichick to make the Tar Heels better immediately. UNC finished the 2024 regular season with a 6-6 record.
There’s no doubt that Belichick is an excellent in-game coach, but it will be interesting to see what kind of talent he can bring to Chapel Hill. North Carolina is expected to increase its NIL budget under Belichick, and UNC administrators are counting on recruits and transfers wanting to come play for the NFL legend.
The Tar Heels will open next season by hosting TCU, and they also have an out-of-conference game with a Power 4 program in UCF in 2025.
As for ACC games, UNC has a manageable schedule but does take on Clemson at home and has to play at Syracuse.

Bill Belichick says he expects to coach North Carolina for a significant spell
Not long after Bill Belichick accepted the North Carolina job, there was plenty of speculation about how long he would stay in Chapel Hill.
Belichick insists that he is in it for the long haul and has no intentions of leaving North Carolina any time soon, despite being in his early 70s.
“I mean, I feel like doing it a long time. I’m good to go,” Belichick said.
More specifically, he’s ready for the challenge of the college game and building out a program with the help of general manager Mike Lombardi.
“I think the recruiting process belongs to everyone,” Belichick said. “It belongs to Michael and his scouting staff and evaluations and setting that up in the recruiting department in terms of making this an attractive visit or destination for the athlete but it’s also part of the coaching job and certainly the head coach has a big role in that as well, to ensure the athletes, the student-athletes, that you’re giving them what they want. And there’s not always a fit there. Sometimes that doesn’t quite match up. But this university has so much to offer and our football program has a lot to offer that I think we’ll be able to attract a good, quality player.”
