Once again, North Wilkesboro Speedway will host the NASCAR All-Star Race. One piece of the 2024 schedule is unveiled now for fans. As we wait on the rest of the 2024 schedule, this should satisfy fans for a little bit. Some short track racing at one of stock car racing’s most important venues historically.

It took 27 years for NASCAR to make its return. Now, we are ready for year two! On May 19, 2024, the Cup Series will race the All-Star Race. This year, it also hosted a Craftsman Truck Series race that was points-paying. That race will return as well.

NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports made the announcement today that the 40th All-Star Race will be at North Wilkesboro Speedway. An announcement was made at the North Carolina state capitol along with multiple elected officials, including Governor Roy Cooper.

The state has invested a lot into the track and is happy to bring NASCAR back for 2024.

Also, something for fans to know, the surface is going to be repaved before next year’s race. There will be a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race there this weekend on the old surface. So, it will be the final race on the original surface.

While it was fun seeing that original pavement, patched up, put on one last show, it’s time. If North Wilkesboro Speedway is going to keep hosting races, it has to be repaved.

Marcus Smith ‘grateful’ for North Wilkesboro Speedway

When you talk about reviving race tracks, it is usually just dreams. Racers have seen venues come and go. Beloved local tracks have disappeared throughout the south and the rest of the country. However, North Wilkesboro Speedway has come back from the dead.

Marcus Smith, president and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, is very happy with the support the project has received.

“We are very grateful that NASCAR and Fox Sports have supported our efforts to bring the NASCAR All-Star Race back to North Wilkesboro in 2024. While NASCAR’s current 75th anniversary season still has some memorable moments to come, it’s hard to imagine a more magical moment than what we witnessed with NASCAR’s return to North Wilkesboro Speedway this past May,” Smith said in a statement.

So, are you excited about the news? North Wilkesboro Speedway is back again! It won’t just be a one-hit wonder. The track is here to stay it seems.
