Notre Dame at Miami odds: Early point spread released for 2025 matchup
One of the top games to open the 2025 season will be a showdown between national runner-up Notre Dame and a revitalized Miami squad, with the game taking place down south at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Both teams will have a point to prove.
According to early lines listed by FanDuel, Notre Dame is set to open as a 2.5-point favorite in the game. The over/under for the contest has been set at 53.5 points.
That sets the expectation going into the game: The Fighting Irish will be a slight favorite, even on the road and replacing quite a bit of talent from the squad that recently represented the program in the national championship game.
Miami also loses a bunch, most notably quarterback Cam Ward. Ward was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024 after a breakout season following a transfer from Washington State.
He threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, turning Miami into a bit of an air-raid offense. Replacing him won’t be easy, but the ‘Canes have moved swiftly to do just that, securing a high-profile transfer yet again.

This time it will be former Georgia star Carson Beck who joins Miami and takes the reins of the offense.
Beck is coming off a bit of an up-and-down season with the Bulldogs, throwing a career-high 12 interceptions. But there’s no doubting the experience. He has thrown for 7,912 career yards and 58 scores.
Notre Dame, on the other hand, will have to replace Riley Leonard at quarterback.
But coach Marcus Freeman has put down a nice foundation for the program and Notre Dame should be an attractive landing spot for top players in the NCAA transfer portal.
In any case, the season-opening contest between Miami and Notre Dame should be fascinating, as evidenced by the tight early spread.
