Odds released for second overall pick in 2024 NFL Draft
The folks at FanDuel have assigned odds for the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. You can read about the favorites to go first right here, but we all know the real chaos starts with the second selection.
Caleb Williams is the obvious favorite to go first overall, whether that’s to Chicago or some team that the Bears traded the pick to. After that, though, the oddsmakers seem to think that the draft will be quarterback-heavy at the top as they favor two more QBs likely to go at No. 2.
To see which quarterback is the favorite to go two, as well as the full list of odds for who will be the second pick, take a look below:
Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina (-140)
For now, in FanDuel’s estimation, Maye holds off LSU’s Jayden Daniels and is a slight minus-money favorite to be picked No. 2. Assuming there’s no trade out of that spot from Washington, who needs a future QB, perhaps it’ll be a second UNC signal caller in the past three drafts.
For Maye, it’s a cannon arm and a terrific tall frame that are the major selling points. After a splendid first season as a starter in 2022, Maye returned as a redshirt sophomore with all the draft hype in the world. With a mediocre season given the expectations in 2023, he really didn’t change his stock a ton one way or another.
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU (+150)
The Heisman-winning dual-threat superstar executed a senior season rise like that of another former Tiger: Joe Burrow. Like Burrow, Daniels entered his final year of college ball without much NFL hype nor expectation to become one of the best players in the country.
Well, Daniels led the best offense in the country with magnificent play both through the air and on his legs, and as a result, catapulted up the NFL Draft boards. FanDuel says it’s completely possible he goes No. 2, and if not there, almost certainly in the top five to 10.
Caleb Williams, QB, USC (+1200)
Williams is a bit of a pickle in second-pick betting. As the odds-on favorite to go No. 1, with the overwhelming majority of the NFL world already penciling him in first, there’s really not much reason to believe he won’t.
However, if by some chance, Williams isn’t the pick at No. 1, then he’ll most certainly be the pick at two. Apparently, FanDuel believes it’s more likely Williams falls than the No. 2 pick go to a non-QB, so keep that in mind.
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State (+1500)
Universally praised as the top non-quarterback prospect, “Maserati Marv” as Gus Johnson calls him, is FanDuel’s top choice as well among non-QBs for the second overall pick.
The standout Buckeye wide receiver posted north of 1,100 yards in each of the last two seasons along with 32 total touchdowns. He also went back-to-back as an All-American and won the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year award in 2023.

JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan (+3000)
We’re going back to the quarterback well for the next guy in line as Michigan starter JJ McCarthy is a 30-1 long shot to shoot up the boards and ultimately become the second overall pick.
McCarthy is a real wild card when it comes to QBs in this draft. He has all of the tools — the arm, the pocket mobility, the good decision-making — and there’s no tape to suggest he can’t be great. But there’s also not much tape showing him as a superhero a la Jayden Daniels at LSU. He didn’t have to be with the Wolverines. So who knows. As the draft process marches on, perhaps scouts really start to see some untapped potential with McCarthy to warrant a possible selection at No. 2.
Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame (+7500)
Only the second non-quarterback on the list so far, and it’s again one of the very top prospects in the entire draft, regardless of position. But his position is typically valued quite high.
Alt, out of Notre Dame, is your typical can’t-miss top offensive tackle prospect in the draft. Really, not since Penei Sewell has an offensive lineman been so universally beloved by scouts — and that guy was pretty good, huh?
Long Shots
At 75-1, Alt feels like an incredibly long shot to go No. 2. However, FaneDuel did list a handful of other potential picks all at +10000, or 100-1, to be selected second. Here were those players:
Malik Nabers, WR (LSU)
Bo Nix, QB (Oregon)
Michael Penix, QB (Washington)
Rome Odunze, WR (Washington)
Well, it’s just more QBs and wideouts. Daniels’ top target in Nabers is also a likely top-10 pick after the ridiculous statistical season he put up. Meanwhile, elder Pac-12 stars Michael Penix and Bo Nix could wind up in the first round, but FanDuel believes second overall for either player is a little pie-in-the-sky. Then, Penix’s own target Odunze is the third receiver listed in what is a very strong top of the draft at that position.
