Saleh was hired as the Jets head coach in 2021. In his nearly four seasons with the team, Saleh led the Jets to a 20-36 record and did not have a winning season. Through five games this year, the Jets are 2-3 and one game behind the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East lead.

Who will be the New York Jets new head coach?

Jets owner Woody Johnson said: “This morning, I informed Robert Saleh that he will no longer serve as the Head Coach of the Jets. “I thanked for him for his hard work these past three-and-a-half years and wished him and his family well moving forward. This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.

Jeff Ulbrich will serve as our Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. He is a tough coach who has the respect of the coaches and players on this team. I believe he along with the coaches on this staff can get the most out of our talented team and attain the goals we established this offseason.”

It will be interesting to see who the Jets hire as the next head coach. Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023 and finished with a 54-45 record. The former New England Patriots linebacker led the Titans to three playoff appearances and an AFC Championship game.

Belichick and Carroll are the best two options when it comes to championship experience. As the Patriots head coach, Belichick led the team to nine Super Bowl appearances with six wins from 2000 to 2023. Carroll was the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2023 and led them to two Super Bowl appearances with one win.
