It’s been a long time coming for Odell Beckham Jr., who in his eighth NFL season finally took home a Super Bowl ring with the Los Angeles Rams.

What made Beckham’s journey even more remarkable is that after three breakout seasons with the New York Giants — Beckham was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014, while being named to the Pro Bowl in 2014, 2015 and 2016 — he struggled mightily following a trade to the Cleveland Browns. He managed to catch just seven touchdowns across two and a half seasons with the Browns, barely eclipsing 2,000 yards receiving across 29 games. But Beckham, who’s seen a career resurgence since being released and signing for close to nothing with the Rams, scored Los Angeles’ first touchdown in Sunday’s Super Bowl, bringing his Rams touchdown total to seven already, matching his tally in Cleveland.

Unfortunately, a first-quarter injury ended his night early, but it didn’t stop Beckham from making an impact, as he finished the Super Bowl with two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. After winning his first career Super Bowl, Beckham shared a heartfelt message on Twitter.

“Thank u all for the love and support,” Beckham said. “God always got me. He’s always had a plan. He made me a world champion ! Im so grateful!”

Beckham made it through just over a quarter and some change before he went down with an apparent knee injury. He quickly made his way over to the injury tent, then later to the locker room, and he was then ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Regardless, Beckham still managed to finish as the Rams’ second-leading receiver in terms of yardage, finishing his day with two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown, reeling in the Rams’ first touchdown of the day.

“It’s an emotional moment for him,” Miller said, when asked what he told Beckham after the win. “He was on his way to having a Super Bowl MVP type of performance, man. But he got a ring, man. It’s what we all came here for. I love the guy to death. That’s my boy forever. We’re forever etched in stone as Super Bowl champs.”

The Super Bowl MVP award, of course, was given to Cooper Kupp, who finished with eight receptions for 92 yards and two receiving touchdowns. But according to Miller, had Beckham made it through the entirety of the game, he believes it would have been Beckham taking home the prestigious award.
