The next edition of The Game, which will now feature the past two national champions in Ohio State at Michigan, already has a point spread out for next fall.

Per the lines at FanDuel, which only has eleven games listed as of now for next season with the other ten all being early in the year, the Buckeyes have opened as a 9.5-point favorite over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor come kickoff in November. The over/under for the game is 47.5 points.

Again, after last night, the latest outing the rivalry will feature each of the last two winners of the College Football Playoff. The maize & blue won the final year of the four-team format while the scarlet & grey won the first year of the expanded one.

However, besides those odds being way, way early regardless, there’s no telling what either team looks like for next season – let alone by the final game of the regular season.

After bringing back everyone for this season, Ohio State will be losing several key names on both sides of the football, specifically from the nation’s top defense. Some players will be back, though, including two of the very best at their respective positions in the sport in WR Jeremiah Smith and DB Caleb Downs.

Then, as for Michigan, the Wolverines will also be losing multiple members of the roster, specifically on defense as well from a top-twenty unit in the country.

The spread also hasn’t mattered much in the 2020s to the Wolverines. Michigan has covered and won outright in each of the last four, three of those being as an underdog and with this past season being an all-time upset in the series in them winning at 13-10 in Columbus as a 20.5-point dog.

The Game means a lot already and will mean even more so next time they meet with the current streak in the series and with them each having won a title in the last two seasons. There are still ten months until its played, though, with much to change and impact that near double-digit spread between the Buckeyes and Wolverines.
