Ohio State vs. Marshall odds: Early point spread released, How to Watch
After a bye week, Ohio State will look to make it three straight wins to start the season. The Buckeyes will welcome Marshall to The Shoe in Week 4, and the early point spread has been released.
Ohio State is a 38.5-point favorite over the Thundering Herd, according to FanDuel. The over-under is set at 51.5.
The Buckeyes were idle in Week 3 after back-to-back dominant showings to start the year. They defeated Akron and Western Michigan by a combined score of 108-6, and freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith made his presence known through the first two weeks of his college career with 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Ohio State enters Week 4 averaging 543.5 yards of offense and 54 points, which rank among the best in the country. The Buckeyes entered the season with plenty of expectations with a revamped roster, and they’ll look to continue living up to them in Week 4.

But Smith is generating the most buzz on the roster, especially after becoming the first freshman ever named an “Iron Buckeye” during camp. He came in as the No. 1 overall recruit from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Ryan Day understands why there’s so much excitement around the freshman. After all, he literally breathed a sigh of relief when Smith signed his National Letter of Intent. When it comes to a comparison, Day noted how tough it is to find one during a conversation with On3’s Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman.
“I don’t think it’s crazy for you guys to be talking about it – I think it’s probably inappropriate for me to talk about in that he’s only played two games and that he’s so young,” Day said on Andy & Ari On3. “I think the easy thing to do is to get out in front of ourselves. If I’m starting to talk too much about that, it’s not a good look and it’s not fair to him. He still has to be young. He’s gotta make his mistakes. He’s gotta grow.
“I think he’s a hard player to have a comp with because of his size. His explosiveness, his ability to run, his approach. He’s very mature for his age.”
