Former Florida star and NBA first-round pick Tre Mann is reportedly on the move. Mann is being traded to the Hornets as a part of a package for Gordon Hayward, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Mann and forward Davis Bertans are going to Charlotte in exchange for Hayward, according to Woj.

Tre Mann has appeared in 13 games this season and is averaging 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He hasn’t gotten a ton of opportunities this year, but there are plenty of minutes to go around in Charlotte.

The Hornets are 10-40 on the season and have lost nine straight games.

Mann and Davis Bertans were not a part of the regular rotation in Oklahoma City. Bertans has appeared in 15 games this season and is averaging 2.9 points per game.

On the surface, this trade makes sense for both the Hornets and Thunder. OKC gets a veteran in Hayward to help as the Thunder prepare for the playoffs.

Oklahoma City is currently tied for the best record in the West at 35-16. The Thunder have a ton of talent but are young. Hayward has played in big games, including big playoff games during his career.

Gordon Hayward has been banged up as of late but is close to returning to the court. On the season, he is averaging 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game over 25 games. Hayward was in his fourth season in Charlotte, after previously playing for the Jazz and Celtics.

Meanwhile, the Hornets are in rebuild mode as one of the worst teams in the East.

Landing Tre Mann gives them a young guard who still has time to develop into a solid NBA player.

Mann’s NBA career got off to a solid start as he appeared in 60 games and made 26 starts as a rookie. However, he saw his role with the Thunder decrease over the past couple of years as Oklahoma City brought in more talent.

As a rookie in 2021-22, Mann averaged 10.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

In Year 2, Mann appeared in 67 games and made five starts. He averaged 7.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

This season, Mann has appeared in only 13 games, with zero starts. He is averaging 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Mann signed with Florida as a four-star recruit and the No. 22 overall player in the country in the class of 2019, according to the On3 Industry rankings.
