Oklahoma State vs. South Dakota State odds: Early point spread released on Cowboys, Jackrabbits
Oklahoma State is set to kick off the 2024 football season in less than a week with a test at home against South Dakota State on Saturday. It should be an exciting atmosphere at Boone Pickens Stadium to begin a year in which the Cowboys have Big 12 title expectations.
OSU enters as 9.5-point favorites against the defending FCS-champion Jackrabbits according to FanDuel. This isn’t an SDSU team that will go down easily, and the over/under is set at 54.5. You can view more information about the matchup below.

Location: Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma
Oklahoma State enters this season coming off of a 10-4 record and appearance in the Big 12 title game. The Cowboys are among the favorites to make it back to the conference championship in the new-look Big 12, which adds four teams and loses Oklahoma and Texas.
Running back Ollie Gordon is a preseason candidate for the Heisman Trophy and should lead the OSU offense. He led the country with 1,732 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns and should again find plenty of room to run behind an experienced and deep offensive line.

The Cowboys also return starting quarterback Alan Bowman and their top two receivers from a year ago. That in mind, the offense should have potential to put up big numbers in any game.
South Dakota State enters as preseason FCS No. 1 team after back-to-back national titles
SDSU is about as difficult an opponent as you can face from the FCS level. The Jackrabbits won back-to-back national championships in 2022 and 2023 and have not lost since Sept. 3 of 2022, riding a 29-game win streak entering the matchup against Oklahoma State.
South Dakota State brings back its starting quarterback from both of those championships seasons in Mark Gronowski. He threw for 3,058 yards and 29 touchdowns to just five interceptions this past season.
Additionally, the Jackrabbits return running back Amar Johnson, who is poised to take the lead role in the backfield after rushing for 815 yards and four touchdowns in 128 carries last year. That in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them give Oklahoma State some trouble in this one or even potentially pull off an upset.
