Location: Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma

Oklahoma returns a lot of talent on defense led by linebacker Danny Stutsman (104 tackles) and safety Billy Bowman (six INTs). What may define the season for the Sooners is how sophomore Jackson Arnold performs in his first season as starting quarterback.

Arnold is a former five-star prospect who ranked as the No. 4 quarterback in the 2023 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Oklahoma also brings back its second-leading receiver from last season and adds Purdue transfer Deion Burks to give Arnold a pair of dangerous weapons. This game should give them all an opportunity to gain some chemistry together before SEC play.

Temple still looking to break through under Stan Drayton

Stan Drayton enters his third season as the Temple coach still looking to prove himself. He went 3-9 in each of his first two years at the helm and could be looking at a hot seat situation if he doesn’t turn things around quickly.

The Owls will have a new starting quarterback following the transfer of EJ Warner. They’ve still yet to name a starter thus far in a three-man battle between Forrest Brock, Evan Simon and Tyler Douglas.

Temple added more than 40 players through the transfer portal this offseason, so it’s going to a much different team than it was last year in several areas. That includes at running back, where Antwain Littleton transfers in from Maryland after rushing for 708 yards and nine touchdowns over three seasons with the Terrapins.

It should be interesting to see how it all comes together for Drayton and the Owls in 2024, but it’s highly unlikely they’ll pull off a win here. Look for OU to get the ball rolling with a dominant victory at home.
