Given the fact that neither program have historically matched up very often, Oregon has not won in Ann Arbor since that 2007 matchup. Before that, you’d have to turn the record book back to 1973.
That 1973 matchup is the last time Michigan defeated the Ducks despite leading the all-time series 3-2.
A lot has changed in the nearly two decades since these teams last met, and Oregon is one of the top contenders for the College Football Playoffs while the Wolverines are the regining nation champions. Although it doesn’t appear that Michigan will find themselves back in the CFP at the end of the regular season, the magnitude of this matchup can still be felt.
Looking ahead to this matchup, Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel has impressed in his sixth season of college football. Meanwhile, the Wolverines’ defensive unit has given up 30 points only one time this season. How the defense attacks Gabriel could dictate the pace of the game, but the question of whether the Michigan offense can hold its own remains to be seen.
