Oregon releases Heisman Trophy ceremony outfit for QB Dillon Gabriel

It’s always an honor to be named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, the most coveted individual award in all of college football. Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel was lucky enough to be named a finalist and a few hours before the ceremony on Saturday night, the Ducks released the special outfit that he’ll be wearing in New York.

Gabriel joined SportsCenter Saturday morning and was asked why he should win the Heisman Trophy over the other finalists Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty and Cam Ward. He pointed to his entire body of work and ability to win games.

“I’d say it’s body of work. You know, winners win. And I’m a winner,” Dillon Gabriel said. “I love the biggest moments. I love to play on the biggest stages. As a little kid you dream of it. But more importantly, when you get on that stage, who seizes it. And that’s me.”

Gabriel has thrown for 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns, with six interceptions. He’s also rushed for 192 yards and seven scores. The former UCF and Oklahoma QB threw for 624 yards and six touchdowns in wins over top-5 teams Ohio State and Penn State earlier this year.

Gabriel is currently second-all-time in NCAA career passing yards, and he also set the NCAA career passing touchdown record. Even though he didn’t win the Heisman Trophy (it went to Travis Hunter) on Saturday night, he’s still firmly cemented his legacy as one of the greatest college football quarterbacks of all-time.

Dillon Gabriel also shattered records in the state of Hawaii in high school (Mililani Trojans), throwing for 9,848 career passing yards. That mark recently fell, Campbell (Hawaii) four-star quarterback Jaron Sagapolutele took over the state’s all-time passing yards record, throwing for 10,563 career passing yards. Sagapolutele will play for the Oregon Ducks next fall.

He committed to the California Golden Bears on July 8th, but flipped his pledge to the Ducks at the start of the early signing period for National Signing Day. Sagapolutele joins Akili Smith Jr. as the second quarterback pledge for the 2025 cycle.
